Peaty's - LinkLube Dry 120ml
LinkLube Dry is a chain lubricant based on easily biodegradable waxes, ideal for use in extremely dry and dusty conditions, up to slightly wet conditions. Our unique formula utilizes a blend of waxes suspended in a water-based emulsion to provide you with a durable, clean, and quiet chain.
If you're looking for a lubricant suitable for wetter conditions, check out LinkLube All-Weather.
📝 FEATURES
💧: Wax-based formulation lasts longer in dry and dusty conditions as it doesn't attract dirt 💧: The blue color of the dropper easily indicates when the lubricant is dry and ready for use 💧: Easily biodegradable 💧: Up to ~300 km / 190 miles per application (depending on conditions) 💧: Rounded applicator cap tip smoothly glides on the chain during application 💧: The unique, tall and slender bottle is shaped to fit like a pen in your hand to make application easy
🔮 ALL-WEATHER VS. DRY... WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
LinkLube All-Weather is our universal chain lubricant suitable for most weather conditions. Even though the base carrier fluid we use has fast penetration and chain cleaning properties, it will never fully dry to the touch. This can lead to unwanted dust attraction in drier and dustier conditions, so a more specific dry lubricant is required.
🔬 WHY WATER? WHY WAX?
Wax is the best lubricant for dry conditions because, when applied correctly, it fills your chain's links and rollers with a hard and slippery layer that will last a long time on the trails and be dry to the touch – so dry dirt and dust won't stick to it.
🛠️ APPLICATION
When applied for the first time, it's essential that LinkLube Dry is applied to a well-degreased and dry transmission. If a chain is dirty, dirt and old chain oil take up space in the rollers, preventing the new lubricant from reaching the points where it's needed, and any residue of oil-based lubricant can result in reduced durability and premature darkening.
-
Degrease thoroughly before applying new lubricant to ensure no old chain oil is present. For best results, use our Foaming Degreaser for transmissions, or in the case of brand new chains, use our XXX solvent degreaser to remove stubborn factory grease.
-
Make sure to rinse the chain thoroughly with clean water after degreasing (after all, the degreaser is designed to remove chain lubricant).
-
Allow the chain to dry completely before application.
-
Apply only to the inside of the chain. The light blue color of the lubricant allows you to see exactly where you have and have not applied.
-
Keep the chain moving for 20 seconds to help the lubricant penetrate the pins and rollers completely.
-
Check for over-application. You can tell if you've applied too much LinkLube Dry because you will see the lubricant start to fill the tight chain links. If this happens, simply shift through your gears slowly a few times to transfer the excess lubricant onto the cassette. You'll see the lubricant disappear from the tight links, leaving the lubricant only where it's needed on the chain.
-
Allow it to dry completely so that the lubricant changes from a light blue color to completely transparent (you need to wait for the water to evaporate, leaving it in the sun helps). How long it takes for the water to evaporate - and for the lubricant to become clear in color - depends on the weather conditions. This can range from a few minutes (if it's hot) to a few hours (if it's cold and damp). For best results, apply the night before.
